Local Fraternal Order of Police Endorses Nick Stewart for Baltimore County Executive
Parkville, MD — The Baltimore County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4, representing more than 3,200 active and retired members of the Baltimore County Police Department, today announced its endorsement of Nick Stewart for Baltimore County Executive.
The endorsement reflects strong confidence in Stewart’s commitment to public safety and his comprehensive plan to strengthen policing in Baltimore County.
“If communities don’t feel safe, nothing else is possible,” said Nick Stewart. “I’m honored that our campaign earned the endorsement of the County’s Fraternal Order of Police. I’ve spent countless hours speaking directly with our officers in order to build a real plan to support them, improve morale and better serve communities that need it most. If we’re going to reverse population loss and begin attracting families, we’ve got to honor our most sacred obligation — to ensure every family feels safe in every part of our One County.”
The Baltimore County FOP Lodge 4 has served as the voice of rank-and-file officers for more than 50 years, advocating for the needs of those who protect the community and strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and residents.
“Nick Stewart understands what our officers are up against because he’s taken the time to listen,” said Doug Jess, President of Baltimore County FOP Lodge 4. “He recognizes the importance of giving officers the tools, staffing, and support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. His plan addresses the real issues facing our department today, and we believe he is the right leader to move Baltimore County forward.”
Stewart’s public safety plan is centered on both enforcement and accountability, with a focus on targeting repeat violent offenders, investing in prevention programs for at-risk youth, and rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the community. His approach also prioritizes equipping officers with modern technology, expanding staffing, and transforming data systems into a real-time CrimeStat model to improve coordination and outcomes.
As outlined in his public safety platform, Stewart has proposed a three-phase strategy to equip, expand, and empower the Baltimore County Police Department—supporting current officers while recruiting the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
Stewart brings a unique background to the race, having served as a prosecutor in a local State’s Attorney’s Office and worked closely with law enforcement throughout his legal career. His campaign has emphasized that public safety and community trust must go hand in hand.
“We’re building a Baltimore County that is safe, affordable, inclusive, and modern—where families feel secure, businesses can invest, and communities can thrive,” Stewart added. “That starts with supporting our officers and building real trust with the people they serve.”
