Our Moment

Pikesville has long been one of Baltimore County’s most distinctive communities. It is home to a Metro stop, a grocery store within walking distance and the historic Pikesville Armory, which has been undergoing an exciting revitalization. These assets place Pikesville in rare company: a suburban community with the bones of a true promenade.

Yet despite a 2021 revitalization plan, progress in the vital core has been limited mostly to façade improvements. Reisterstown Road remains dominated by a state highway that prioritizes cars over people. And the very first building drivers see is a multistory structure on the verge of condemnation.

Pikesville deserves more. Pikesville desires a transformation like Silver Spring’s rebirth: a place where people walk, gather, shop and celebrate local culture in a thriving town center.

Our Mission

What Pikesville needs is leadership willing to act with urgency. The pieces are all here: transit access, historic anchors, strong neighborhoods and community will. What is missing is efforts to proactively identify valuable redevelopment opportunities in a coordinated strategy that turns disconnected assets into a living, breathing neighborhood that reflects Pikesville’s identity.

To make that vision real, we will work together to reimagine Reisterstown Road as a main street and a town center. We will slow traffic, widen sidewalks and create a walkable promenade with mixed-purpose housing, small businesses and vibrant public spaces by initiating direct engagement reaching out to community groups and investors to form a true public-private investment partnership. 

The jewel of this effort is Pikesville Armory. Our small area plan must incorporate this project with its new retail, dining and public space as an anchor that supports local merchants, cultural organizations and community identity. 

With the right reforms and proactive county-led investments, Pikesville can reclaim its place as a destination in Baltimore County—where history and modernity meet, where transit and commerce connect, and where the community’s charm shines through every storefront and sidewalk café.

The opportunity is here. Now it’s time to lead Pikesville to the future it has been waiting for.
